Can Persistence Paint the Whisper of the Waves?

Hi, my name is Jamie. I'm a nature photographer from Las Vegas, Nevada. I've always wanted to capture a photograph of these small sea stacks because they look so mysterious when photographed up close.

On this day, I had a bad sprained ankle and could barely walk from an accident I had hiking the week before. Despite the pain, I was eager to photograph this location no matter what.

I needed to set off early in the morning to get this shot in the right light. So, I woke up at dawn, wrapped my ankle and questioned my sanity for the journey I was about to embark on. But the smell of the sea and the serene crashing of the waves renewed me with life.

I took each step carefully across the arid ground while my ankle throbbed. There were some areas where I was unsure of my footing and again questioned my sanity every moment I was out there. After about an hour of limping up and down the shoreline, and right before I was about to give up and call it a day, I eventually found the perfect angle. I got it!

I set up my tripod and captured a one-minute exposure. I had snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. I was so happy with how my new work of art came out. And it fulfilled a dream to capture a shot like this. Most importantly, I can show the world the beauty of this area of California.
