Here is what no one tells you about the oldest living things on Earth.

They don't survive by force.

They survive by rootedness.

Some of the ancient forests in this collection have trees that are over a thousand years old. They don't need to fight the storm because they were already rooted firmly in the ground before the storm even arrived. Their roots go so deep, into soil so old, that nothing passing overhead can move them. Fires have come. Droughts have come. Centuries of winters have come.

And they still stand.

Not because life was gentle with them.

Because they were unshakeable inside it.

You have been through life's good and bad. And if you're like me, right at this very moment, you are carrying the weight of both ends of the spectrum as well as many points in between. And some part of you has been wondering whether you are built for living life.
