El Capitan stands strong to your left, a 3,000-foot wall of ancient granite. Cathedral Rocks rise on your right, with Bridalveil Fall nestled close, its mist catching the morning sun, dropping nearly 620 feet. Soft sunrise light pours through the space between these giants.
Bridalveil Fall is the first major waterfall anyone sees when entering the valley. Southern Sierra Miwuk people called it “Pohono”. Then in 1864, Abraham Lincoln signed a law that set this valley aside for the public. It was the first time the federal government protected land for its beauty alone.
