Why this piece exists
I photographed Awaken in the Channel Islands, California, after a simple shift changed everything for me. Instead of trying to capture the kelp forest as a whole, I set out to focus on a small detail. One that I had spent years brushing past without truly seeing: the kelp bladders, the air-filled sacs that give California Giant Kelp its buoyancy and lift.
Choosing black and white was part of that same intention. It removes distraction and lets the image live in form, light, and quiet structure. It is a reminder that what we overlook is often what is holding everything up.

The motivation behind my photography has always been to display the Earth’s beauty. Earth is so valuable and fragile; it is our responsibility as humans to take care of it. To me, there is nothing more important than doing our part to give back to this beautiful planet we live on called Earth. Therefore, I use my photos to help promote conservation and sustainability.
One way I that I do this is by donating a percentage of the proceeds from every product sold to the non-profit organization listed below.
As of today, proceeds from sales of my Fine Art Photography will generate donations with the following structure:
- A percentage of net revenue earned by See Life Inspiration from online sales channels will be donated to The Ocean Clean-Up to help remove plastic from the ocean.
- Additionally, one tree is planted for every large canvas and metal artwork.
- Further matching contributions are made to the National Forest Foundation to plant trees in effort to offset the carbon footprint from our travels to take pictures.
The giving percentage is defined by edition tier:
- Conservation Edition (CE): 100% of proceeds donated to ocean conservation
- Premier Edition (PE): 20% of proceeds donated to ocean conservation
- Starter Edition (SE): 15% of proceeds donated to ocean conservation
- Open Edition (OE): 10% of proceeds donated to ocean conservation
